A little history

Smoothie power we call this blogpost but did you know that smoothies are pretty new when compared to other culinary traditions? but regardless, their popularity is growing rather quickly.

The modern smoothie as we know it today was created in the 1930s by a man named Fred Waring, who was a bandleader and musician. He invented the first electric blender and used it to create a drink made from fruit, yogurt, and ice, which he called the “Miracle Mixer.”

You cannot go wrong with a Smoothie

However, it wasn’t until the 60s and 70s that smoothies became popular as a health food. There is a data that In 1969, the first Orange Juice stand opened in Los Angeles, serving a frothy drink made from orange juice and other ingredients that eventually became known as the “orange smoothie.”

No matter the ingredient, a Smoothie will always spark your day in the best way possible
Besides ingredients, the most important thing needed for a Smoothie is creativity

In the 80s and 90s, smoothies gained even more popularity as health-conscious consumers sought out alternatives to sugary drinks and fast food. Smoothie bars and juice shops began popping up in cities across the country, and major chains like Jamba Juice and Smoothie King emerged.

Today, smoothies are a popular drink around the world, and the options are virtually limitless. Smoothies can be made from a variety of fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients, and they can be customized to fit any dietary preference or need. Some people even use smoothies as a meal replacement or a way to supplement their diets with extra nutrients.

Here are some of the health benefits of smoothies:

Nutrient-packed: Smoothies can be a convenient way to pack a lot of nutrients into one drink. They are often made with fruits and vegetables, which are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Digestive health: Smoothies can also be beneficial for digestive health. They can contain fiber, which helps to promote regular bowel movements and improve overall gut health.

Hydration: Smoothies can be a good way to stay hydrated, especially if they are made with water or coconut water. Staying hydrated is important for overall health and can also help with weight management.

Weight management: Smoothies can also be a useful tool for weight management. They can be low in calories and can help to keep you feeling full and satisfied between meals.

Immune system support: Smoothies can also be a good source of immune-boosting nutrients like vitamin C, which can help to support a healthy immune system.

Energy boost: Smoothies can be a good source of energy, especially if they are made with ingredients like bananas, which are high in potassium and can help to regulate energy levels throughout the day.

No boundaries, no limits. Just go with the flow and make a Smoothie

Overall, smoothies can be a healthy and convenient way to get a variety of nutrients into your diet. However, it’s important to keep in mind that not all smoothies are created equal. Some can be high in sugar and calories, so it’s important to choose ingredients wisely and be mindful of portion sizes.

Here are three delicious smoothies that are worth trying:

Berry Blast Smoothie: This smoothie is made with a mix of berries like strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, along with Greek yogurt, honey, and almond milk. It’s packed with antioxidants and protein for a satisfying and healthy snack.

Antioxidant galore is what you get out of a berry based Smoothie. So good
This one is phenomenal and packed with antioxidants

Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie: This indulgent smoothie is made with almond milk, banana, cocoa powder, peanut butter, and a touch of honey. It’s a satisfying and healthy alternative to a milkshake.

Chocolate can't be excluded from a good tasty Smoothie.
This one can get a bit too sweet. A kind of “From time to time” Smoothie

Green Smoothie: This classic smoothie is made with a blend of leafy greens (like spinach or kale), banana, and other fruits like pineapple or mango for sweetness. You can also add in a scoop of protein powder or nut butter for extra protein and healthy fats.

The green Smoothie is probably one of the most trendy and famous of them all.

Which is Maruša’s favourite Smoothie and why?

“I would choose the one with banana, all types of berries, different nuts, chia seeds, goji berries & frozen joghurt. I like that specific one because there are a lot of fibers in it, it taste delicious and because i prefer fruity and sweet smoothies than “veggie” style…veggies i like to eat them raw, in salads”

Chia, berries, banana, pure joy
No limitations when it comes to create a tasty Smoothie

And which is Daniel’s favourite Smoothie?

“My favourite one has Kiku apples, banana, blueberries, chia seeds, a tablespoon of oats, little splash of honey and almond milk…best thing ever”

Apples, bananas, oats, almond milk...the best
No limitations when it comes to create a tasty Smoothie

We hope you like this post and even better if you got motivated to go and throw some tasty fruits or veggies into the blender. Surely it will taste amazing and your body will thank you 🙂
